    Active MFT photo lenses are designed to be small, light weight and produce super sharp images at a much higher resolution than traditional video lenses which makes them perfect for Ultra HD. They can be remotely controlled using the return SDI program feed from your ATEM switcher or from the expansion port on the camera. You can even add a lens mount adapter to use your existing collection of Broadcast B4 lenses or even feature film style PL lenses!

    The Micro Studio Camera 4K includes a full size HDMI connector for local video monitoring so you can add a monitor to the camera or quickly plug in a local monitor when you’re setting the position of a remote camera or changing camera menus. There is a mini BNC connector for the main camera SDI output and a mini BNC connector for the camera program input which can be used to provide reference, control camera CCU settings, return talkback audio and tally status. There is a 3.5mm mic input for external microphones and a 3.5mm headphone socket that supports an iPhone compatible mic so you can use it for talkback.

     

    Remote Camera Control

    The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K works with standard SDI camera control protocols. That means you can connect the program feed from any model of ATEM Switcher to the camera’s SDI input and remotely control any setting in the camera, color correct or even change focus, iris and zoom on supported lenses. Broadcast cameras traditionally have basic CCU color balance controls, however the Micro Studio Camera 4K includes a full DaVinci primary color corrector so you get so much more than simple CCU controls because you can also do a full color grade in the camera. Now the technical director can fine tune the settings and match the looks of cameras quickly.

     

    Quick Camera Settings

    Quickly access the most important settings

    The built in row of buttons along the front of the camera gives you quick and easy access to power, menu navigation and settings. Because they’re on the front, the buttons are always accessible, even when rigged into tight locations. Simply plug into any HDMI display such as a TV or the portable Blackmagic Video Assist so you can see the camera’s menus and you can easily change any of the camera’s settings. You can use the menus to set the camera up and then that allows the switcher to take control of the camera via the SDI program input.

     

    Great Quality Sound

    High quality microphones built in or use external microphones

    The built in stereo microphones are engineered for high quality audio and feature a mechanical design that helps reduce unwanted wind noise so you get great sounding audio. When you need better audio in windy outdoor conditions such as sporting events, you can plug in an external mic with a wind sock to capture clean sound! The camera instantly switches to the external microphone when one is connected and can work with both line or mic levels. Whether you’re using the built in microphones or attaching one from the outside, the audio is embedded into the SDI video output so you get perfect audio and video sync!

     

    Built In Talkback

    Two way communication with the entire crew!

    The Micro Studio Camera 4K includes an iPhone style headphone socket with mic so you get full talkback support. You can also use standard noise canceling headsets, like those from Bose, Sennheiser and more to hear the technical director without distraction from the audience. Because the camera has an SDI connection to the switcher and an SDI connection from the switcher the talkback audio is embedded into channels 15 and 16 of the SDI signal and you get two way communication. If you’re setting up fixed cameras, talkback makes it easy to walk from camera to camera and plug in your headset to communicate with the rest of the crew to get the best angles and framing.

     

    Battery or External Power

    Use DC power or removable batteries

    The camera includes a 12V to 30V DC power input so you can power the camera using any standard power supply or even a simple plug pack. There is a standard LP-E6 Canon compatible battery receptacle on the back of the camera so you can add a battery to get local back up power if the power supply gets accidentally disconnected during a critical live broadcast. The power input is located on the expansion port so you can simply connect power to the breakout cable or you can make a custom cable so you can have multiple camera connections over longer distances and all down a single cable loom.

You can use the camera remotely by itself, or you can add accessories to rig the camera so you can build your own custom studio camera!     With the traditional LCD, the bulky display cell of the LCD is backlit with a line of lights or a single lighted panel. With LED, the LCD cell and assembly is still backlit but with individual lights, making up a large grid of individual lights. What makes OLED displays better is the infinite contrast and true black. Long gone are the days of a white wash effect that turns dark bold colors into lighter colors because of white back-lighting. Now all colors are projected as their true color, not just lit up with white lighting.

    Focus Assist

    Focus Assist features three display modes. PEAKING Edge detection based on contrast, with variable sensitivity. Image can be displayed with edges highlighted in red, green, blue, black white or yellow. Or only detected edges can be displayed as white, with other image elements in black. REVEAL A more aggressive, complex focus detection system. Sharper objects highlighted, with a variable sensitivity control. Can be combined with Peaking under that control’s menu. ENHANCE Simple edge enhancement display. Allows for easier judging of focus by artificially augmenting sharpness on the OLED display. Pixel Zoom enlarges a section of the image on the OLED panel to better judge focus and other aspects of the image. The resolution of the video area of the OLED panel is 1280x720. 1:1 zoom and 2:1 zoom enlarge a select section of the image to a pixel-for-pixel crop. 1:1 shows a 1280x720 crop from a 2K/HD signal, 2:1 shows a 1280x720 crop from a 4K/UHD signal. Hyper Zoom modes show a reference window on the image and an enlarged representation of the image within that window on the lower right corer of the OLED screen. Hyper Zoom modes include 4:1, 6:1, 8:1, 10:1 and 12:1. The Odyssey Pixel Zoom offers the unique function of allowing the enlarged window to be moved within the image frame simply by dragging a finger or stylus on the OLED screen.

    Zebras

    Zebras is an exposure tool to indicate any part of the image that is at a particular brightness. Zebra patterns can be represented in Black, White, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, or Magenta colored stripes, and the underlying image is visible in between the stripe lines. Brightness range for each Zebra pattern can be individually selected with a high and low setting or that Zebra pattern can be switched off. Ranges can overlap, and any exposure value not selected will be represented as it appears in the underlying image.

    Spot Meter

    Spot Meter is an exposure reference tool, presenting a brightness reading at a selected part of the image in both brightness (Luma) as well as the three separate color channels (Red, Green, and Blue). The Spot Meter can be set to display a single-measurement target, two-measurement targets or eight-measurement targets. A graphic comparison display can be set to show the two target values side-by-side or the differential between them.

    Histogram

    A Histogram is an exposure tool indicating brightness by volume of image across a horizontal plane. The brighter the image the farther it is to the right. The more of an image registering at a particular brightness the taller the line graph at that brightness. It can be set for overall brightness (Luma), with the three color channels separated (RGB Parade), or as the individual color channels only (Red, Green, or Blue).

    Waveform

    A Waveform is an exposure tool used for measuring the brightness of the image throughout the frame. It can be set for overall brightness (Luma), with the three color channels separated (RGB Parade), or as the individual color channels only (Red, Green, or Blue). The Waveform display aligns left-right to the image on the OLED display. In Multi-Stream mode, if two images are displayed side-by-side then the Waveform can be used to compare the signals.

    False Color

    False Color is an exposure reference tool, attributing different colors to various brightness portions of the image. Available colors are Red, Yellow, Pink, Green, Blue and Purple. A video signal is measured in a scale from -7 to 109, often marked as a % or with the suffix IRE.

    Vectorscope

    A Vectorscope measures the color spectrum represented in the video signal. Different hues are represented by the rotation around the circle. Different saturations are represented by the distance from the center to the perimeter of the circle. Reference targets represent specific values in both hue and saturation. Two diagonal lines bisect the Vectorscope circle. The “I” line passes from orange to blue hues, and roughly represents the tonal reference for common skin tones. The “Q” line passes from green to magenta and is useful in indicating imbalance between those opposing hues.

    3D-LUTs

    A Look Up Table (LUT) is a set of exposure, contrast and color offsets to adjust an image. Originally designed as a tool to indicate on one display how an image would appear on a different type of display, LUTs have expanded to also become tools to preview color grading decisions. The Odyssey7Q+ includes numerous 3D-LUTs for previewing the LOG video outputs of several popular cameras in standard REC709 contrast and color.

    Monochrome

    Monochrome represents the individual color channels (Red/Green/Blue) or the overall brightness (Luma) in a gray scale image.

    Frame Guides

    Frame Guide presets available are 1.33:1, 1.85:1 and 2.39:1. Odyssey also gives you the ability to name and save up to four custom frame guides. Left/Right control sets frame sides. Top/Bottom control sets frame lids. Linking adjusts Left/Right or Top/Bottom together. Rectangle eliminates lines outside inner box. Select colors between White | Black | Red | Green | Blue | Yellow. Up to four custom frame guides plus one preset frame guide can be displayed at the same time.

    Anamorphic De-Squeeze

    Horizontally stretches image to correct for use of optical anamorphic lenses. Image altered on OLED screen as well as SDI and HDMI outputs. Does not affect recording. Options are labeled in squeeze multiplier and displayed aspect ratio. Full Frame options always show full width and height of recorded signal. Center Extraction options show popular extracted frames.

    Image Flip

    The image on the OLED can automatically flip to match the orientation of the screen if needed, or this feature can be disabled. This allows for flexible mounting of the Odyssey.

    Hide Screen

    While the Odyssey’s OLED screen provides an excellent image with intuitive touch screen controls and information displays, sometimes one does not want to see it all. The Hide function can be set to make either the controls & displays disappear or the video image go black. A tap anywhere on the screen brings the full display back.

    The high speed Live MOS Sensor realizes burst shooting in 16.05-megapixel full resolution at 5 fps with mechanical shutter and even 40 fps in 4-megapixel recording mode. The DMC-GH2 also features fast, accurate Light Speed AF. The DMC-GH2 employs an 18.31 mega total pixel sensor. Using only about a 16.05-megapixel area of sensor makes it possible to give three aspect ratios – 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3 – the same angle of view. The image processing LSI, Venus Engine FHD assures high picture quality in both photo and movie recording.

    The DMC-GH2 can record high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 50i movies in AVCHD format. Sensor output is 50p. High quality sound can be recorded with Dolby Digital Stereo Creator. In addition, the DMC-GH2 has a wide range of movie modes including Manual Movie Mode, 24P Cinema Mode with 23Mbps, Variable Movie Mode and iA Mode. When the DMC-GH2 is connected to a Panasonic VIERA via an optional mini HDMI cable, the TV's remote control unit can be used to enjoy playing back with greater convenience.

    The DMC-GH2 adopts touch-control shooting. While shooting, AF can be set at the desired part of the frame with just a touch. You can also operate the AF and shutter release at the same time. While playing back, you can quickly select an image to view by scrolling images. In still image recording, the Peripheral Defocus Mode automatically adjusts the focus to match the AF area you positioned while gently defocusing the foreground and background to emphasize the subject. In movie recording, Variable Movie Mode records movie in slow or quick. When the LUMIX G 12.5mm / F12 is attached, the DMC-GH2 can shoot 3D images.   • The PMW-F3 inherits DNA from the F35, which has been used for years in high-end digital cinematography, as well as most of the features and file-based workflow capabilities of PMW-EX1R and EX3 XDCAM EX solid-state memory camcorders.The PMW-F3 is equipped with the newly developed Exmor™ Super 35 CMOS image sensor, PL lens mount, and SxS card for 1920 x 1080 full-HD recording. The PMW-F3 features future expandability, including RGB 4:4:4 baseband output with S-LOG gamma for external recording which means it can be used in an HDCAM-SR™ workflow.     Exmor™ Super 35 CMOS Sensor The PMW-F3 is equipped with a newly developed Exmor Super 35 CMOS image sensor which offers creative shallow depth of field, similar to that of a film camera. This sensor has an extremely high sensitivity of F11 (ISO800) with a very low noise level (an S/N ratio of 63 dB). This is a significant advantage especially when shooting in low-light conditions or at night using only ambient light.
    RGB & S-LOG Output (CBK-RGB01) The PMW-F3L/RGB now includes a scalable external recording solution. The RGB 4:4:4 and S-LOG output features are now included pre-installed. RGB 4:4:4 baseband signal output is available for external recording devices such as HDCAM-SR recorders (i.e. Sony SR-R1). A LUT (Look Up Table) function is also provided for monitoring purposes when S-LOG output is activated. The PMWF3K/RGB also includes 3G-SDI output functionality. It enables users to select Dual-link HD-SDI or 3G-SDI depending on the connecting devices.
    PL Lens Mount The PMW-F3 employs a PL lens mount that is standard for film cameras, allowing use of a virtually unlimited number of prime and zoom lenses for 35-mm film cameras. This greatly broadens the choice of lenses for a wider spectrum of creative expression. A PL lens mount adapter comes with the camera as standard. The PMW-F3 supports the Cooke/i Technology protocol, which enables the camcorder to communicate with the lens to obtain lens metadata such as focus and iris position. The ARRI LDS interface will be supported as well. This improves post-production workflow as lens metadata can be recorded onto an SxS card and brought into the post-production process.
    XDCAM EX™ Workflow The recording format and recording media are identical to the existing PMW-EX1R and PMW-EX3, and proven, high-speed, intuitive XDCAM EX workflow can be used with high reliability. This workflow offers seamless integration with leading nonlinear editing software.
    Small and Lightweight, With Low Power Consumption The PMW-F3 has a small, compact body with a very modest footprint, and weighs just 2.4 kg (5 lb 4 oz). It offers mobility, flexibility, and cost efficiency. In addition, the camcorder’s power consumption is only 24 W, and about three hours’ recording can be achieved with only one BP-U60 battery.
    HD-SDI Dual-link Output The PMW-F3 has an HD-SDI Dual-link output connector which offers 4:2:2 1080 50/59.94p uncompressed signal output as standard. By using external recording devices such as HDCAM-SR recorders, users can achieve x 2.5 natural slow-motion playback in 1080/24p mode.
    3D-LINK Option (CBK-3DL01) Another new feature of the PMW-F3 is the 3D-LINK option which is especially convenient for 3D stereoscopic shooting. Two PMW-F3 cameras can be controlled by one camera remote controller at the same time. The two cameras are connected with a special 10-pin cable that includes genlock, timecode in/out, and control line. Simultaneous control of the Iris and Focus functions of two cameras is extremely useful.
    Painting capabilities for Digital Imaging Technicians With the use of either the RMB-150 or RMB-750 controller (sold separately) hooked up to the 8pin remote connector, digital imaging technicians can make various adjustments to the look of the footage captured by PMW-F3 camera based on the needs of the DP. Adjustable parameters are shown below.
    Native 24P Recording with Slow & Quick Motion For a film look the PMW-F3 offers native 24P (SD or HD) recording and Slow & Quick Motion function also known as over and under-cranking.
